
Spanish omelette also known as Spanish tortilla is a traditional dish from Spain and one of the signature dishes in the Spanish cuisine. It is an omelette made with eggs and potatoes, optionally including onion.
When I first heard of this dish with a name that I couldn’t almost pronounce I said to myself,” here goes one of those recipes whose ingredients you aren’t aware they exist.”Turns out I was wrong, terribly wrong because not only are the ingredients readily available its also surprisingly easy to cook.So for those who live alone and find cooking such a big task, this is honestly one of the best ways to upgrade your egg cooking skills
INGREDIENTS
-6 eggs
-Capsicum( hoho) red & yellow
-1 bunch of Coriander(dania)
-Cooking oil
-1Garlic
-4 large potatoes
-1 large Onion
METHOD OF PREPARATION
1.Peel the potatoes and dice them into cubes.Wash them then place in a bowl..
2.Slice the onions and garlic then chop them finely.Place both of these in separate bowls.
3.Chop the capsicum into small pieces and place in another bowl. Pluck the coriander leaves then cut them into small pieces then again place in another bowl.
4.Crack all the 6 eggs in one bowl and beat them .Season with salt.
5.Pre heat your pan for about 10 seconds then add oil until it covers the entire surface. (a non stick pan is highly recommended to use).
6.Add the chopped onions and capsicum and let them cook till the onions turn golden brown.
7.Next add the diced potatoes and let them cook well under medium heat.
8.Add garlic while the potatoes are cooking and stir the whole mixture. Make sure you keep on stirring to avoid the food from sticking onto the pan.
9.While the potatoes are cooking,take your eggs and add the chopped coriander to them and thoroughly mix.
10.After the potatoes are done cooking, switch off the source of heat and add the entire contents of the pan into the egg mixture,mix everything very well.
11.After mixing,switch on the source of heat again,place your pan on it and add the entire egg mixture into the pan.Put it on low medium heat to allow the eggs tho cook for 5 min.
12.Let the other side of the omelette cook also cook for another 5 minutes.To easily do this,place a plate on top of the pan and use it to flip the omelette. Switch off the source of heat after the 5 minutes are done.You can serve it hot or cold.
