Marination ingredients
.500g-beef steak cubed
.½ cup plain yoghurt
.1tsp salt
.1tsp of oil
.1 heaped tsp of garlic
.1 heaped tsp of ginger
.1tbsp of cumin( optional)
.Red chilli powder
.Black pepper
.Lemon juice(½ lemon)
.Turmeric powder
.4tsp of oil
Masala ingredients
.4 onions sliced and golden fried
.3 tomatoes cubed
.¼ tsp garlic
.¼ tsp ginger
.¼ cup plain yoghurt
.1 tsp tomato paste
.2⅓ cups of water
.4 potatoes quartered ,fried until tender
.Salt to taste
Rice ingredients
.2 cups of rice
.4tsp of oil
.Saffron or turmeric powder
.Salt
Procedure
1.Mix the steak with all the marination ingredients and allow to marinate.(the longer the better)
2.Heat oil in a pan , add tomatoes and cook until they are musty.
3.Add ginger, garlic,chillies and cook for seconds then add the marinated steak.Fry on high heat for 3 minutes.
4.In the meantime, in a bowl mix the yoghurt with the crushed fried onions, tomato puree, sugar and 1tsp of salt.
5.Pour the mixture into the pan and cook until the gravy is dry.Add the water and turn the heat down to low and cover the pot.Allow to cook for 15-20 minutes or until the beef is tender and the gravy thick.
6.Taste and adjust the salt and spices to your preference.
7.Add the fried potatoes and give it a mix.
For the rice, cook as desired and add turmeric powder for colour effect.Enjoy!
